Wow, March 2010 was a surprise! I'll be honest, for a minute there I was wondering if we could pull it off with so many more than anticipated...but what a great worry to have. In my humble opinion, I think it all went very well. We were again able to split into two brackets, which hasn't happened for a year -- hopefully this is a continuing trend now. Tier I was won by Peter with a score of 5.0 / 6.0. Matt Gorman took second with 4.5, and Justin Rajsky finished in third from a group of players with 4.0 points. Great job to everybody!! Not to take anything away from the tier I players, but the real stories were from tier II. First off, the only other time we've had a tier II, it was 6 players...this time 24!!! Also, Jermaine McNeil remained undefeated (11-0) as he went 6-0 for the day to finish as the tournmanet champion. (If anybody missed him in the paper, I found the NWI Times had him with some of his teammates on the cover--good job) Another first was the finish for second place. Ian Westerhoff and Carlos Farela played a blitz game for the tie-break...when that game stalemated, they played another. Ian finally ended up breaking the tie for second; both players were 5-1 for the day (not including the tie-breaks). Thanks again to everybody who has come and brought friends -- I'm really excited about were this is going. I'll recruit some more help next time, and we'll be ready for even more! See you then, C
