Free Chess Indiana -- March 2009

Our March tournament was our biggest yet.  Frankly, I was not prepared for the number of players who showed up, but everything still started on time, and went very smoothly.  We were able to separate into two tiers of play for the first time, which I would love to continue.  We welcomed back Emilio Ressurreccion, and he welcomed the opportunity to finish in first place.  At 5.5 out of 6, he was nearly perfect.  Gabriel Blakely gave him a great run though, and at 5.0 of 6 was a close second.  In fact, we had a lot of players close, as this was the toughest tournament yet.  Tier II was a great addition to the tournament, and we had a great race there too.  I was able to take a look at the last game between Jermaine McNeil and David Vogel (both 4-0-0 going into the game) I believe it was a rook and pawn vs. two knight and pawn endgame, which Jermaine was able to win.  Great job to everybody who played, and thanks again.  I'll see you next time, C
